Located at 2,600 ft elevation, Tucson is a city in the southern part of Arizona surrounded by multiple mountain ranges, including the Santa Catalinas. An expansive city covering substantial area, Tucson has many distinct neighborhoods. Reflecting its 19th-century beginnings are the restored mansions of its El Presidio Historic District and the adobe row houses of Barrio Historico. Home to the University of Arizona, Tucson has a wide array of shops and nightclubs as well as one of the most vibant restaurant scenes in the entire country.
The city boasts a relaxed and friendly reputation, and unique outdoor experiences tied to its location in Arizona’s Sonoran Desert and surrounding national parks and forests.
In addition to vacationers, a significant number of winter residents, or “snowbirds”, are attracted by Tucson’s mild winters and contribute to the local economy. Snowbirds often purchase second homes in Tucson and nearby areas, contributing significantly to the property tax base.
